Summer just got a few degrees hotter with these brand new and surprise releases by Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino. So far we have had “SoulMate” by Justin Timberlake and “Jackie Chan” by Tiesto and Post Malone for the race against the hottest summer track. These songs are bound to have some severe competition from “Feels Like Summer” and “Summertime Magic” singles dropped by Childish today.
So far, these two new songs have not been associated with any album work by Childish. But these songs may very well end up in an album considering the popularity they have achieved since release.
Both “Feels Like Summer” and “Summertime Magic” are rather slow paced than its contenders by JT and Tiesto. However, you can still sway to the beat of both the songs. It is even difficult to comprehend that the same artist who did “This Is America” is engaged with these two new singles.

Lyrics Review and Song Meaning of “Feels Like Summer”
The two verses on “Feels Like Summer” talk about some of the growing concerns faced by humans on Earth. Summer might be getting hotter, but that is not a good sign for the sustenance of life.
Gambino speaks about the world population which is growing at an alarming rate that the Earth cannot support. Forefathers of a few generations before us made rapid advancements in development. Their careless ways of life and development are affecting the current generation and future generations to come. They dashed through the development and now they are asking us to slow down.
Gambino also speaks about people being enslaved to machines and technology. We have made machines that control us. We may not feel like it, but your mobile phone controls you. Your laptop controls you.
The second verse gets even more intense as Childish Gambino describes how humans are digging their own grave on Earth. Excessive and uncontrolled use of natural resources has thrown the world out of balance. Each Summer gets hotter and hotter, and on the flipside, many natural imbalances are caused due to this.
The massive development that took place has killed the air around us. Gambino demonstrates his vast knowledge on different subject matters on “Feels Like Summer.”
He reiterates on a famous quote by renowned physicist Albert Einstein:
“If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”
His final wish on this song is that people will wake up and see the damage they have caused and actively contribute towards reversing the damage right now. Else, the clock of doomsday is accelerating by the day.
On the other hand, “Summertime Magic” is a pure contrast to “Feels Like Summer.” This track forgets about all the above issues and just tries to relax you for this Summer.
It talks about dancing in the Sun, feeling each other’s love and having romantic escapades in the Summer.
We absolutely love these two additions to the summer-jam hot list by Donald Glover. We love even more the fact that he managed to sneak in a very important message into one of the songs.
