Here Are the Most Streamed Female Artists on Spotify for 2019

Shout out to all the boss women in music on this International Women’s Day of 2019. We saw Lady Gaga pitching in for her tribute to #SheInspiresMe movement which was caught up by Ariana Grande, Rita Ora, Miley Cyrus and many more artists. The popular music streaming platform, Spotify released a list of top 20 female artists who dominated their service for 2019 so far. And we have very familiar names on the list.

It has been only 2 months in 2019, hence much of the streaming stats are due to music releases in 2018, as you will see in the descriptions below.

Spotify’s Most Streamed Female Artists of 2019 (Up to March)

20. Adele

Adele did not have any new music releases in 2019 so far, yet the singer’s global hits such as “Rollin’ In The Deep,” “Hello,” “Someone Like You” and more kept her in the top 20.

19. Miley Cyrus

The pop-star’s most recent release was the 2018 hit “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” with Mark Ronson, he earlier hits such as “Wrecking Ball,” “We Can’t Stop” propelled her success on the streaming service. She also performed a cover of “No Tears Left to Cry” by Ariana Grande on the BBC Live Lounge in January 2019.

18. Demi Lovato

The 26-year-old singer is in a musical hiatus after her apparent drug overdose in 2018 after she confesses that she ‘fell off the wagon’ after years of sobriety in “Solo” single with Clean Bandit. This track became #1 in the UK and USA.

17. Beyonce

Queen Bey needs no new music releases to be in a top 20 chart. After her last release “APES**T” with hubby Jay-Z, the duo was on tour for the most part of 2018.

16. Becky G

The 22-year-old singer has been active throughout 2018 releasing some major hits such as “Zooted,” “Booty” and “Sin Pijama.” All these music videos scored over 100 million views. She continues the same streak with a brand new single “LBD” released in February 2019.

15. Anne-Marie

The “Ciao-Adios” singer had a stellar 2018 with releases such as “Don’t Leave Me Alone” with David Guetta, “2002” with Ed Sheeran and a cover of “Rewrite The Stars” with James Arthur. Her latest hit is “Perfect To Me” from late 2018.

14. Camila Cabello

The “Havana” hit-maker is in the top 20 most streamed female artists list for that song. She also got to perform this breakout single on the 2019 Grammy Awards stage. She also released an emotional single “Consequences” in November 2018.

13. Karol G

Unveiling her not-so-secretive relationship with Anuel AA, she had a stellar 2018 with “Secreto,” “Mi Cama” and “Culpables.”

12. Bebe Rexha

She may have released her latest single and controversial music video for “Last Hurrah” in 2019, but she also had major success with “Say My Name” with David Guetta and J Balvin.

11. Sia

Sia did not engage in solo projects in 2019, however her supergroup LSD featuring Labrinth and Diplo had major success with “Thunderclouds” and “Genius” in 2018. Sia’s most recent work was “Sing For My Life” which did not gain much momentum.

10. Nicki Minaj

The Queen of Hip-hop is on this top 20 most streamed female artists of 2019 list for a reason. She continued her dominance with videos such as “Good Form” featuring Lil Wayne, “Barbie Dreams,” “Hard White,” “FEFE” by 6ix9ine and more. The cold war with Cardi B would have helped the stats too.

9. Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez found global popularity through some major collaborations she did in 2018. “Taki Taki” by DJ Snake went on to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. She released “Back To You” music video in 2018 and new single “I Can’t Get Enough” a collab with benny blanco.

8. Cardi B

The latest addition to the field of Hip-hop and rap arena is Cardi B and she has stormed the industry. Beginning with “Bodak Yellow” hit from 2017 and releasing her debut studio album ‘Invasion of Privacy; in 2018, Cardi B has come a long way in a very short span of time. ‘Invasion of Privacy’ album won the ‘Best Rap Album‘ at the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019.

7. Rihanna

Rihanna has had a quieter 2018 compared to all the other artists on this list. The “Diamonds” singer has been on a musical hiatus since 2017 when she released “Lemon” single and ‘Anti’ album in 2016. According to Spotify, Rihanna’s most popular tracks are “Umbrella” from 2006, “FourFiveSeconds” from 2015, “Take A Bow” from 2008 and so on. Guess, her classics live on forever! Her latest hit sensation was the “Work” collaboration with Drake in 2017.

6. Taylor Swift

Despite not releasing an album in 2018 or 2019, Taylor Swift still managed to sneak in the top 20 list of most streamed female artists for 2019 courtesy of her massively popular ‘Reputation’ World Tour that ran across the globe for the most part of 2018. Songs such as “Delicate,” “King of My Heart,” “Getaway Car,” “…Ready For It?,” “End Game,” “Look What You Made Me Do” have been fan-favourites. Her ongoing relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn also managed to keep Miss Swift in the popular list.

5. Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa was one of the biggest breakout artists of 2018 with her hit single “Electricity” with Calvin Harris. Her sexy performances topped with unique vocals made the song reach #1 in several countries including the UK and Canada. She also grouped with K-Pop girl group BLACKPINK for her next hit “Kiss and Makeup” also premiered in 2018.

4. Halsey

Halsey scored major world recognition with her hit single “Without Me” talking about the break up with her ex-boyfriend G-Eazy. The song reached #1 on Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for several weeks. Halsey also got to perform her hit song at several live events including 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Saturday Night Live, MTV EMA 2018 and many more.

Lady Gaga is the latest addition to the artists with Oscar awards for her song “Shallow” with Bradley Cooper from their movie ‘A Star Is Born.’

2. Billie Eilish

The 17-year-old singer for California has taken the music world by surprise with her horror-themed singles and grunge-themed songs. Leading up to her debut album release in 2019, Billie Eilish released “bury a friend,” “wish you were gay,” “come out and play” and more. We expect her upcoming album ‘WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?‘ to be a number 1 hit.

Ariana Grande had a stellar 2018 and it continues to 2019. Her year of breakup was converted to a year of musical dominance in 2018 and 2019. Ariana Grande released 3 singles “thank u, next,” “7 rings” and “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” all of which ranked at #1 on Billboard Hot 100. She penned down an emotional tribute to her fans for helping her get through the most difficult time of her life. Ariana Grande also released her fifth studio album also titled ‘thank u, next’ in February 2019. The album became #1 in the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and more. The music video for the lead single “thank u, next” became the most-viewed video under 24 hours and also the fastest to reach 100 million views on YouTube in a matter of 3 days.
