Post Malone Premiers “Wow.” Single for Christmas (Lyrics Review and Song Meaning)

Post Malone is back with a brand new single since the release of his sophomore studio album ‘beerbongs & bentleys.’ Set to a Christmas-sy animated video, “Wow.” is not exactly about Christmas. The new song is more of a celebration of Malone himself.

Post Malone released “Wow.” without any prior announcements on December 24th, and there is little information as to if this will be Malone’s first release from an upcoming album. In between the second studio album and this new single, Malone also released his contribution to ‘Spider-Man” Into The Spider-Verse’ movie soundtrack, titled “Sunflower.”

The only teasing Malone did on the new single was a single Tweet that read “Song before the year end \m/.” In this song, Malone talks about his massive first album ‘Stoney’ and his newfound fame and success.

The video animation, done by Jaime Restrepo, shows a lot of bizarre visualizations, mainly focusing on Post Malone. Post appears as Christmas elves, Santa himself and as himself.

Lyrics Review and Song Meaning of “Wow.”

Verse 1

In the first verse of “Wow.,” Post talks about his newfound wealth and luxuries. He mentions that he is a proud owner of a lot of toys-luxury cars. In specifics, he talks about his Mercedez Benz G Wagon and Lamborghini Aventador 750-4 SuperVeloce and how these rides attract all the women in the block like a flock of birds! On top of this, Malone is also the owner of a 1967 Lincoln Continental, 1992 Ford Explorer, which he got customized by West Coast Customs and a Rolls Royce Wraith.

Malone says he has a lot of haters when he was starting off his career and now they are reduced to just watching him succeed from the sidelines.

Malone goes several levels deeper in to metaphors to flaunt his diamond-studded teeth. “Igloo in my mouth = ice in my mouth = diamond in my mouth.”

Chorus

Post Malone is no stranger to flaunting his wealth. At an estimated net worth of $14 million by 2018, throwing away stacks of hundred dollar bills should not hurt Malone much.

“Wow” is an emotion of joy, surprise and ecstasy. Malone says his wow factor is when he shows up for a performance. Granted, Malone has been a unique artist ever since he broke out with “White Iverson” single overnight. We have seen some unique tracks such as “Psycho” and “Rockstar” which have had massive successes on charts.

Verse 2

Post Malone draws similarities between himself and Dikembe Mutumbo the basketball player. Dikembe Mutumbo was ranked as the third best defender of all time by the Bleacher Report. Much like Mutumbo blocks everything, Malone is famed in every block on the streets.

Post Malone also purchased a $3 million mansion in Utah, which he intends to turn into an apocalyptic shelter.

In the new single “Wow.,” Post draws a few strings to his past as well. He brings up ‘Stoney’ album which put him on the music map. He mentions his massive single “Congratulations” from the same album. And he also gives a shout out to his manager Dre London by reminiscing a line from “Takin’ Shots” from the first album.

“40” refers to liqour-usually a cheap brand. So Post says he is pouring out expensive liqour in commomoration of all the dead souls who did not believe in him.

Malone also gives a shout out to Dak Prescotts’ legendary hail mary touchdown.
