Nicki Minaj had other plans on the 2nd Saturday, while half of the world tuned into Marshmello’s Fornite concert saga. Nicki Minaj appeared on the latest episode of her Beats 1 Radio program-‘Queen Radio.’ During the program, the 36-year-old rapper updated about her life, career and released two new songs: “Barbie Goin Bad” and “Barbie Drip.”
“Barbie Goin Bad” is a song produced over the beat of “Going Bad” by ex-boyfriend Meek Mill and Drake. Seemingly, there is a new album in the works by Nicki, and both new songs are most likely part of the upcoming album.
Much like songs in her last album ‘Queen,’ Nicki Minaj is heard boasting her ‘queen’ status in this new freestyle. Moreover, she takes shots at ex-boyfriend, while shouting out her upcoming tour with Juice WLRD.

Lyrics Review and Song Meaning of “Barbie Goin Bad”
In the only verse of the song, Nicki Minaj starts off with a reference to her current lover. In an Instagram post in December 2018, Nicki showed her current boyfriend’s tattoo on his neck of Nicki Minaj’s real name ‘Onika.’ This is an almost slap at her ex who is referred in the song.
Next, Nicki compares her to the legendary Aretha Franklin, who had 73 songs on Billboard Hot 100. Nicki has 102 entries by now, and she seems proud of this accomplishment. She should be, as she leads this front among female artists right now.
In the next line, Nicki throws some shade at Meek Mill, Drake and Cardi B, who have become friends ever since Nicki left the picture for all three of them. Nicki says when the ‘queen’ leaves, the enemies of the queen become friends. Next, she goes on to remind all the other newcomers in the rap game that she is the one who taught them As and Bs of the game. She warns them that pawns of the game should stay at their level without trying to go at the queen.
In a few explicit sentences, Nicki explains her loyalty to her man. She is ready to give herself to him, but she is still a boss.
‘Big Draco’ is a nickname for Soulja Boy, whose Twitter handle is ‘Young Drako.’ However, this could be an indirect reference at Drake, when she says ‘he always comes back.’
In the outro of “Barbie Goin Bad,” Nicki drops a few hints as to the whereabouts of her fifth album. According to these lyrics, she might even be done with the new album. When her record label wanted to drop a new single from the album, Nicki went “noooooo.” So, we might or might not get a new single this year.
Nicki Minaj also drops some news on the upcoming tour with Juice WRLD. She says that they are both rehearsing hard for the tour-three times a day. She ends the song with a shoutout to her South side Jamaican bad bi*ches!
There really is no stopping Nicki Minaj. She will continue to roar to protect her queen status in the industry. She might be turning bad, as the song title suggests and she might be sharpening her claws to defend her throne. Well, who can blame her!
