The time is nigh! The brand new single from Taylor Swift’s upcoming 7th studio album has been announced. The song titled “ME!” seems to be all about Taylor and this massive butterfly painting signifies ‘change.’
Taylor has been dropping bright, sparkly and cutesy pictures all over the social media since a week back with the caption “4.26” referencing to April 26th. We predicted that new music from TS7 is on the way and we were never so happy to be right. In an Instagram live video just hours ago, Taylor Swift confirmed that she has a new song coming out titled “ME!” and she was bursting with excitement.
Unveiling the pastel-coloured butterfly artwork done by Kelsey Montague, Taylor Swift captioned; “So… @kelsmontagueart helped me pull off the best surprise clue reveal today in Nashville! Thank you to everyone who showed up, I’ve never been more proud of your FBI level detective skills.”
As promised, Taylor Swift talked about the new single “ME!” with ABC news. This is what the new song means to Taylor Swift;
“ME! is a song about embracing your individuality & celebrating it and owning it.. with a pop song, we have the ability to get a melody stuck in people’s heads and I just want it to be one that makes them feel better about themselves.”
She continued that her “fans” make her feel better about herself every day. Keeping up with her music and being full-time detectives to uncover what Taylor’s cryptic messages mean, the fans have been on par with Taylor and her music all throughout her career. “So, it’s the fans. They’ve always been there. It’s just gotten more fun as the time has passed.”

Taylor Swift also announced that a brand new music video for “ME!” will be out as well along with the single premiere. She will also be joining the live premiere on YouTube and will be answering questions you have about the new song.
On the YouTube premiere chat, Taylor Swift confirmed that the song was written by Joel Little, Brendon Urie and herself. Joel Little produced the track.
Taylor also commented about the experience of working with Bredon Urie of Panic! At The Disco; “Bredon has always been one of my favourite performers and I’ve always had it in the back of mind that it would be INSANE to find the right thing to collab on and when I wrote this chorus I KNEW.”
Joel Little Tweeted about the experience of creating “ME!” with Taylor Swift; “I’ve been wanting to shout this from the rooftops for so long! Me keep secret good! Loved every minute of making this with @taylorswift13 and @brendonurie. Such an honour and so much fun.”

Lyrics Review and Song Meaning of “ME!”
Taylor Swift goes into a whole different zone in this new era ending her ‘Reputation’ era. In this new TS7 era, we hear a more chirpy Taylor with a lot of emotions of love and happiness. The cheerful lyrics and colourful words are proof of this.
The entire song is a dedication to how unique Taylor Swift is. “You’ll never find another like me,” sings Taylor and most of us can agree. Granted that she has a ‘long list of ex-lovers,’ but she seems to be doing extremely well with her current boyfriend-Joe Alwyn since early 2017. How he makes her feel, is reflected in the lyrics of “ME!.”
In “ME!,” Taylor Swift seems to be reminiscing about her past relationships as well. She thinks of a time where she was rude on the phone to an ex-boyfriend. She recalls a fight in the rain.
Whatever said and done, the media has a big part to play in the failing of Taylor’s previous relationships. Taylor restates that “trouble’s gonna follow where I go,” which makes it more so difficult to maintain a relationship. She sends out a similar message in “Delicate” and “End Game” both from the ‘Reputation’ era.
In the pre-chorus lyrics of “ME!,” Taylor Swift expresses how unique she is. Uncomparable to any other, even the ‘cool chicks,’ and like a rainbow with different colours, and full of love. Although Taylor does admit that she can be a “handful,” she also guarantees that no one will love him as she could.
Brendon Urie jumps in! The Panic! At The Disco lead singer assumes the male role in this song as he sings why he thinks he would be the best suited for her. He would never “bore” her and he would never leave her.
In the bridge of the song, Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie educates the listeners on spellings. The duo teach us that there is no “I” in “team” but there is a “me” in it. Is there? No, right? But since Taylor said, there could be!!!
Taylor manages to call herself “awesome” because that word includes “me” in it, which is also a reference to the song and how awesome she is.
In a nutshell, this song is all about being happy about who you are and most importantly finding the right person who would not make you feel otherwise. “ME!” sure is a song dedicated to personal upliftment!
