Liam Payne – Naughty List Ft. Dixie D’Amelio | Lyrics Meaning & Song Review

Despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic around the world, everyone is getting ready for Christmas 2020. This is also a fact for the music industry when artists release their own Christmas holiday songs. But not every Christmas song will be ‘nice.’ There are bound to be naughty songs like “Naughty List” by Liam Payne and Dixie D’Amelio.

The new holiday single “Naughty List” marks Liam Payne and Dixie D’Amelio’s first collaboration. The song title alludes to Santa’s annual list of good and naughty kids, where kids who have been good in the past year get presents from Santa and naughty kids do not.

In the song, both singers narrate a story of how circumstances lead them to act ‘naughty,’ referring to having sex. However, the song is not a ‘dirty’ song, but rather a romantic affair.

“Naughty List” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

Verse 1

Liam Payne takes the lead in narrating the events that lead to their hookup. They were at a party and the party was over in the middle of the night. He bids farewell to his friends and steps out of the house to return home. Liam sees the girl, in this case, Dixie, standing outside waiting for her ride home. Like a true gentleman, Liam offers his coat to her as it’s freezing outside.

Pre-chorus

Another star aligns for Liam Payne and Dixie D’Amelio and her driver gets stuck in the snow. Liam offers to walk her home. She accepts. The next thing they realize is that they are soaked in the falling snow and as soon as they get to her house they opt to remove their clothes and dry them off. Pretty rational so far. But no more…

Chorus

One thing leads to another, and the two hookup. A look leads to a kiss and a kiss leads to more. Now they are branded ‘naughty’ in Santa Claus’ eyes. No gifts for them for this Christmas. But they do not need any more gifts from Santa. They got the best gifts they could possibly hope for.

Verse 2

In the second verse, Dixie D’Amelio wakes up the next day-Christmas morning. There are a hundred messages from her friends and possibly her family, who are concerned. Before she replies to any of them, a sad reality sets in her. She has to get home. So, Liam Payne did not walk her to her home. He walked her to his home!

Bridge

In the bridge of the song, Liam Payne sings about how he would wish she would stay with him for the rest of the days following Christmas. He promises to shower her body with kisses and leave marks like snowflakes.
