miley cyrus wtf do i know

Miley Cyrus – WTF Do I Know | Lyrics Meaning & Song Review

“WTF Do I Know” is the opening track on Miley Cyrus’s 2020 album ‘Plastic Hearts.’ In the song, Miley seems to take out her frustrations of not being the ‘one’ for anybody just because she chooses to be herself and not everyone can handle that.

Plastic Hearts‘ is Miley Cyrus’s seventh studio album after scrapping off her ‘She Is Miley Cyrus’ album. The first single off the album was released in August titled “Midnight Sky.” The album released on November 27, 2020.

The song is widely speculated to be about Miley Cyrus’s split with her husband Liam Hemsworth in early 2020. The two got married in 2018 and announced their split in late 2019. Reasons for the divorce aren’t clear, however, one could assume that Miley’s wild spirit might be too wild to be the family material most people would be looking for?!

“WTD Do I Know” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

In the lyrics of the song, Miley Cyrus seems to reference her “controversial” past. She has posed naked (fully naked) for many photoshoots, she has dressed and acted quite provocatively during her live tours, she has done drugs in the public eye, she has jumped from relationship to relationship frequently, and the list goes on. It is understandable how this behavior can be ruled ‘inappropriate’ by normal family standards. However, Miley is being Miley, and the one thing she has proven over the years is that she is not going to change who she is for anybody.

Miley Cyrus also talks about her marriage to Liam Hemsworth as a ‘distraction.’ And she seems to confess that she felt nothing ending their marriage. A similar topic is touched upon on the title track of the album “Plastic Hearts.”

The gist of the song is the idea that Miley Cyrus does not regret having to move on from her relationships, especially her marriage. She says that she will not apologize for being who she is, even though this might have lead to their divorce. Miley Cyrus says that she will not apologize for failing to be a heroine for others.

Granted, there might have been a lot of persuading from Miley’s friends to work things out with Liam Hemsworth. But Miley obviously knew better–what’s better for her. However, she says that she did let go of the relationship in pursuit of her happiness so WTF would she know about anything! This is sarcasm!
