“Look Up At The Stars” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review
In the lyrics of the song, Shawn Mendes tries to wrap us around the dreamy world of being in love. The night sky filled with stars, streetlights shining on the washed down streets, there’s a cold breeze blowing, and the only thing missing is his favorite person by his side. All the emotions scream for this one missing part of the puzzle.
The lyric “Finally we’ve met, now the lights are set” hint at the alignment of stars for the perfect moment. She was the missing link in this perfect collision of worlds, and now he is complete.
The song also draws several metaphors for the amazing feeling of being in love such as ‘sun shining’ down on him, feeling lucky, and angels dancing around him. These are mere figments of his imagination, thus, yet again proving, that perception is reality.
While Shawn Mendes artistically calls a night with her as ‘wonderland,’ the term refers to a place far out from reality, as referenced in the 1865 novel ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.’ Coming back to the reality from this euphoric wonderland could be quite a daunting task.
