“I Don’t Do Drugs” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

The song plays on the idea that both love and drugs can induce a certain psychological rush in a person. Both can be equally powerful. However, drugs are bad! And Doja Cat and Ariana Grande agree!

You know you got me f*cked up
Got me on stuck, chasing that rush

Doja Cat goes on to sing how she fell hard for this other person. It’s a love-hate relationship for her battling with these feelings. On one hand, she cannot help herself but crave more and more of that sweet love from her partner. On the other hand, she hates being so out of control.

In the second verse by Ariana Grande, the singer shares a similar obsession over her lover. Even on a mere FaceTime call, her lover has her craving for more. Sparks fly all over her head every time she is with them.

Ariana Grande also gives a subtle nod to Doja Cat herself playing on the purr of a cat while being cuddled. Ariana Grande, on the other hand, purrs whenever she is being petted.

Both ladies sing how they can’t even hide their desires around their significant others. They are not mad about it either! They call their partners the ‘fix’ they need every once in a while. This fix goes beyond just kisses and we all can safely assume what this fix entails.
