Taylor’s ‘1989’ is the Fastest Selling Album in Over 10 Years

Taylor Swift and her manager and her record label may have had second thoughts when she decided to release a Pop album after being a Country icon for so many years. The concerns were genuine. But her fans never gave up–in fact they grew in numbers. ‘1989’ is the most successful album for Taylor and apparently in the entire music industry in the recent history. But, new records show that ‘1989’ is one of the most successful albums in over 10 years of recorded history.

‘1989’ album, which was released October, 2014, has sold over 5 million copies in the U.S. alone. And that was achieved at the 36th week of sales, making it the fastest selling album in over 10 years of music history.

Before ‘1989’, Usher’s ‘Confessions’ album hit the 5 million sales mark only in it’s 19th week of sales, which is crazy by any standard of album sales.

The timely release of the singles “Shake It Off”, “Blank Space” and “Bad Blood” helped keep the weekly sales at a consistent rate. Last week sales (week ending 4/07/15) were 26,000 copies. Phew!

Start of the ‘1989 World Tour’ also helped maintain a steady rate of album sales throughout the 10 month period. Her continuous public appearances, 1989-promotions all helped her achieve this milestone.

Everything above set aside, Taylor Swift, as an amazing human being helped her achieve such a tremendous success in her career and personal life. Congrats Taylor Swift. Cheers to a 5 million more!
