Sabrina Carpenter’s “Such A Fun Way” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review
The beginning of the song describes a relationship where Sabrina was constantly held on the hook by this boy. He was a man of few words, and he liked to maintain some distance from her. Nothing about him screamed husband material, but Sabrina decided to test out the water.
He was mindful to keep Sabrina away from his friends and family – an immediate red flag for a long-term relationship. At the time, Sabrina thought maybe he wasn’t that close with his friends and family. She chose to overlook this quirk.
With time, nothing really improved in this relationship. He kept getting distant. He was slow to respond to her, and there was a stark difference in the effort each person put into this relationship.
Maybe it’s her fault for reading this entire situation wrong. She thinks he loves her when he clearly sends different signals. Sabrina tells herself that this boy has a funny way of saying ‘I love you.’
In the second verse of the song, the boy confronts Sabrina Carpenter to break up whatever’s going on between them. He returns her sweater from the first night they met. Sabrina thinks ‘what a sweet gesture’ that he decided to hold on to it all this time. But the reality is that he no longer wants to hold on to it or her.
Sabrina should have realized that there was no future to this relationship when he stopped putting effort into lying to her. His lies kept repeating, and it was clear to her that he was living his own good life without her in it.
Sabrina finally decides to pack up and leave. She doesn’t want to cry about this relationship. It wasn’t even worth her tears. So she chuckles at her naivety and goes to bed.
