Shawn Mendes Premiers “Ruin” Music Video at Madison Square Garden (Review)

Last week Shawn Mendes premiered the visuals for his hit single “Treat You Better” and it was a delight. Today he unveiled the music video for “Ruin”, another single from his upcoming album ‘Illuminate’ out on September 23rd.

“Ruin” follows those soulful rhymes and some impressive vocal skills by Shawn Mendes. He promised us more guitar action and he has delivered it. The lyrics of the song are just beautiful and easy on the ears.

Watch “Ruin” Music Video

We are shown Shawn Mendes performing the song on his guitar to an empty stadium, reminiscing the loneliness that follows after a breakup, which is the theme of the song “Ruin”. The black and white music video just intensifies the dark and gloomy nature of the post-breakup scenario. We believe the visuals match perfectly with the song meaning.

And I’m not tryna ruin your happiness
But darling, don’t you know that I’m the only one for you?
And I’m not tryna ruin your happiness baby
But darling, don’t you know that I’m the only one?

Do I ever cross your mind?
Do I ever cross your mind?
Do I ever cross your mind?
Do I ever cross your mind?
Oh

There is more great music to follow in his upcoming album ‘Illuminate’ and we believe a pre-order would be all worth it. Get the album on Amazon and iTunes.

In the meantime, let the world know what you think about this new music video by Shawn Mendes. Was it to your satisfaction?
