Bebe Rexha’s new album ‘Expectations’ dropped on June 22, 2018, and the new songs she had to offer are really impressive. She also released several lyric videos for the songs off the album and the most recent release is for “Knees.” Before this, Rexha also released a lyric video for “Pillow” track on the album.
Bebe’s new album ‘Expectations’ seem to be a lot inclined towards her experiences towards failed relationships. “Pillow” talked about how love isn’t as easy as she imagined it to be. “Knees” talk about straight up begging her partner to let her go because the relationship is killing them both.
In this song, we hear how Bebe Rexha is so done with the relationship, as the love is fading away. Nobody wants to be in a loveless relationship.

Lyrics Review and Song Meaning of “Knees”
Verse 1
The first verse of “Knees” sets the background to the theme of the song. By her description of their relationship, it is already almost done. When two people have given up even putting up a fight, then you know their relationship is doomed.
He used to be her best friend, whom she shared everything with. Now they are just two ghosts who barely get by. It is really a sad situation, but it is also true for many modern relationships.
Pre-chorus
These lyrics make us understand that the guy in this relationship is in a dubious situation. He seems to be having a hard time figuring out what exactly he needs, and how much he needs to commit for that to happen. He goes back and forth, and with his movements, so does she. And she is getting tired of this motion.
Chorus
The chorus of “Knees” tell us what Bebe Rexha feels about this relationship. She is getting tired of this unsteady relationship. She is tired of feeling like she is his safety net. So she begs him to let her go if she is not his final call. But this guy does not seem to be capable of making up his mind.
She is down on her knees, begging him to end her torture of going back and forth in response to his motions.
Verse 2
She reminisces back to the days when their love was sparking. They used to go on dates, have long and meaningful conversations and feel each other’s touch. Now, they just sit in the car without talking to anybody and she is going crazy not knowing what he thinks. She begs him to talk and let her know what he feels. But instead, all she gets is blank eyes.
Bebe Rexha truly draws an amazing picture of a dying relationship in “Knees.” By the looks of the overall themes of the songs on this album, it is evident that Bebe Rexha has gone through some personal turmoils. However, it is also good to see that she has channeled those emotions positively to create music.
