The Weeknd – Until I Bleed Out | Lyrics Meaning & Song Review

“Until I Bleed Out” is the fourteenth and final track on The Weeknd’s 2020 album ‘After Hours.’ The final verdict of the album leaves us with some positive hope for The Weeknd and his substance abuse as he takes a stance to say “I don’t need it.”

After Hours‘ is The Weeknd’s fourth studio album released on March 20, 2020. The album produced singles such as “Blinding Lights,” “Heartless,” title track “After Hours” and “Scare To Live” all throughout 2020. Abel himself called this album his ‘PSYCHOTIC CHAPTER’ at the reveal of the album.

This song has no verses, however, the pre-chorus sufficiently pushes the message through. The Weeknd says that he does not want to keep living a life of a fake euphoria under the influence of drugs. He would rather stay grounded and live than get high and blow away.

However, when The Weeknd says that he wants “it” out of his life, in one aspect it stands for drugs. On the other perspective ‘it’ stands for love. As Abel extensively discussed throughout the ‘After Hours’ album, ‘love’ is not an area that goes parallel with his life. Still, cutting out both drugs and love at the same time is a massive adjustment.
