“Be Happy” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

Contrary to the idea given by the title of the song, the theme of the song is not about being happy. It is about being happy whilst not being so. We all have down days–days which we don’t want to feel like we are doing okay. And it is okay to have these days. These days help us understand the balance of life. And sometimes, on such days, the furthest thing we need is a boost of moral–a kick in the behind to get us back on track.

The ‘track’ is tedious, tiresome and painful. Just let them have a rest day. Just let them collect themselves, on their own. There is nothing wrong with that.

If I’m down, just leave me there

In the song, Dixie poses this idea that it is okay be sad and down once in a while. It is human nature and no one needs to be a 100% every day for the rest of their lives.

  1. People sorta neglect her for charli instead so maybe she wrote a saying hiw she felt and how sad she is. She doesn’t want people against her like she says,

  2. No i do not agree, who wants to not be happy or have days to feel bad about yourself. Thats dumb like who wants to be sad. Why is she sad like tell us? to much money? to much fame? like i dont get it.

    1. sometimes it not always about fame and money that makes you happy. haven’t you seen actors or singers that killed them selves. money can’t buy happiness.

    2. Bruh shut up cause we all have bad days, she said it’s ok to be sad because we all have bad days once in a while. She’s not telling us to look bad on ourselves, She’s telling us that we all have a right to feel what we feel. Period

    3. Elena Yanef Exactly. No one wants to be sad. So it kind of doesn’t make any sense. I also think that NO ONE should be left alone during sadness. “If I’m down just leave me there” Makes no sense, whatsoever.
