A$AP Ferg – Move Ya Hips Ft. Nicki Minaj | Lyrics Review

A$AP Ferg, Nicki Minaj, and MadeinTYO Join on a brand new collaboration titled “Move Ya Hips.” On the song, both A$AP Ferg and Nicki Minaj, flex on their luxuries, and ‘moving your hips’ isn’t exactly about dancing either.

“Move Ya Hips” is part of A$AP Ferg’s upcoming 2020 album. However, the song marks the third collaboration between Ferg and Nicki, following 2017’s “Plain Jane” and 2018’s “Runnin.” The former track is also given a shout out on this re-union track.

On A$AP Ferg’s verse on the song, the singer has several shout outs. One of the main pop culture references is, the movie ‘Nutty Professor II: The Klumps,’ which he uses to say that his pockets are ‘fat’ with cash. Eddie Murphy plays a very fat professor in the movie series.

The singer also references the fashion associated with the music genre of ‘Grunge.’ Ripped jeans were a big part of rock music and its sub-genres.

Listen to “Move Ya Hips” by A$AP Ferg and Nicki Minaj

On the second verse by Nicki Minaj, she kicks off things by talking to her competition. She doesn’t even want to consider her competition in the same level as hers. She considers them to be singing Blues, which is a very contrasting genre to hip hop and rap, which Nicki excels in.

Nicki Minaj mentions several fashion brands such as Jimmy Choo’s shoes, Saint Laurent fashion accessories, and Versace. Nicki also shouts out to her hometown Queens, New York.

In between many lines by Nicki, one of the consistent messages is to stop trying to copy Nicki’s style in hopes of becoming her. But, there is only one Nicki.

Although “Move Ya Hips” might not be an invitation to dance, you might as well to this beat. So, go ahead!
