The Weeknd and Ariana Grande join up for a remix of The Weeknd’s massive hit “Save Your Tears.” Both artists teased a snippet of what’s to come a couple of days before the release. This remix marks the third collaboration between the two artists.
“Save Your Tears” was released as a single from The Weeknd’s fourth studio album ‘After Hours’ in August 2020. The song peaked at #4 on Billboard Hot 100 with over 1 million units sold in the United States alone. The song did peak at #1 in Canada.
“Save Your Tears” tackles a frequent topic of The Weeknd talking about his distraught relationships with his partners. In the song, The Weeknd sings about an ex-partner who was devastated after they broke up. But at the time of breaking up, the singer had no idea that she was so impacted because she pretended that she didn’t care. Now, when they ran into each other, she sheds a single tear and The Weeknd has no response other than ask her to save them for someone else.

In the remix version of the song, Ariana Grande replaces the second verse. She plays the part of the ex-girlfriend with whom things fell apart. In these lyrics, Ariana Grande sings how they met and how they fell apart. She seemingly admits that she put him through hell, however that may have been. Maybe this is why The Weeknd thought the relationship was at its final breath and decided to walk away.
