“Espresso” is the lead single from Sabrina Carpenter’s sixth studio album ‘Short n’ Sweet.’ The song was released on April 11, 2024, and the first live performance was done at the Coachella Music Festival on April 19th. “Espresso” was a major commercial success for Sabrina Carpenter, earning her first-ever #1 spot in the UK, Australia, and Ireland. It also peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. The song won ‘The Song of The Year’ award at the 2024 Video Music Awards (VMA) on September 11, 2024.
Sabrina Carpenter talked about the inspiration behind the song in an interview with Vogue magazine;
The song is kind of about seeing femininity as your super power, and embracing the confidence of being that b*tch. Since the day I heard the song, I saw a beach atmosphere—and more specifically this kind of old school [and] modern environment. [I wanted to capture] the playfulness that I like to use throughout all of my videos. I also just wanted a pool car, to be frank.
