“Lover” is the brand new song and title track from Taylor Swift’s upcoming seventh studio album.
Taylor Swift unveiled the title of her seventh studio album to be ‘Lover’ followed by ‘Reputation’ album released in 2017. The same producer from ‘Reputation’ era, Jack Antonoff has produced this song for Taylor Swift and the influence is apparent. However, the lyrics were composed entirely by Taylor Swift.
Previous singles from the album are “Me” featuring Brendon Urie, “You Need To Calm Down” and “The Archer.” The full album releases on August 23, 2019.
“Lover” is a romantic track, believed to be a dedication to Taylor Swift’s longest-standing relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn. The song was first teased at an interview with Vogue magazine, where Taylor Swift spoke about the song; “This has one of my favorite bridges. I love a bridge, and I was really able to go to Bridge City.”
The tune to “Lover” reminisces of the good music from the ’70s–serenading and uplifting. Heavy drums and electronic music are signature tones of Jack Antonoff.
The bridge of the song lays out in the form of a wedding vow, where Taylor Swift accepts his lover in holy matrimony. It also talks about Taylor’s devotion to her boyfriend/fiance. Taylor Swift sings how it feels as if they have known each other for 20 years to be in such good understanding and in love.
In the second verse of the song, Taylor talks about having loved this person for three summers as of now. Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have been together for three years now. And she says she wants all of them for the rest of her life. This lyric is what binds this song to Joe Alwyn, with whom Taylor Swift has had the longest standing relationship. Prior to the Brit actor, Taylor Swift went through a series of short-lived relationships with Tom Hiddleston, Calvin Harris, Joe Jonas, John Mayer, Lucas Till, Jake Gyllenhaal, Harry Styles and a few more. However, the news around the grapevine is that with Joe Alwyn, we might be hearing wedding bells soon.
