Charlie Puth premiered a brand new single “Cheating On You” on October 1, 2019, and it doesn’t sound as bad as the title suggests. The singer has released two other singles “Mother” and “I Warned Myself” in 2019 prepping to the release of his upcoming studio album.
Charlie Puth took to Twitter to tease about the song; “The final song out of this trilogy is called Cheating On You…and I promise the song doesn’t sound as the title suggests.”
Despite Charlie’s best efforts to veil that there is nothing fishy going on in these lyrics, there are three parties involved in this love triangle. The twist is that he cannot forget this past girl he came across quite some time ago. Some situations have led themselves to experience their first kiss on her momma’s couch and they caught the feels. But some other situations have led to their breakup, and now when Charlie is with his actual girlfriend, he feels like he is cheating on the past girl. Emotionally, Charlie is still attached to this previous girl he met in 2012.

An important message in the song is “Guess you don’t know what you got until it’s gone,” which is something of a common law of society. It is in everyone’s best interest to realize the value of what you got and hold on and fight for it.
