The latest episode of ‘Carpool Karaoke’ on The Late Late Show with James Corden was a special one. Mostly because there was no ‘Carpool Karaoke’ segment on the late night TV show on CBS. Instead, they took it to new heights–30,000 feet to be precise–as they aired their very special ‘Airpool Karaoke’ episode with none other than the man with the spotlight right now-Kanye West.
In previous episodes of Carpool Karaoke, artists such as Jonas Brothers, Cardi B, Ariana Grande and even legends such as Paul McCartney have appeared on the segment.
Kanye West released his latest studio album ‘Jesus Is King‘ last week and the gospel-backed tracklist has been the talk of the town ever since. In this episode of ‘Airpool Karaoke,’ James Corden hitches a ride on a private jet with Kanye West and his entire Sunday Service choir group.
James Corden questioned Kanye West about the recent trend in his music to be religion-centric. Kanye West replied that he had an epiphany to build a church in Calabasas while he was hospitalized two years ago. Since then “he (Jesus) just keeps on taking me to new levels and taking us to other levels that we didn’t even imagine before.”
The entire private jet passengers join vocals to perform “Jesus Walks” track from Kanye’s new album, while Kanye raps out the verses live. Watch the full episode of ‘Airpool Karaoke’ with Kanye West below.
Kanye West also shares the moment he knew he would be a superstar in hip hop and a cultural icon around the world;
“I was living my dream making beats for Jay-Z and also working on my raps. I remember when Virgin Mega Store was still around–I used to love to go to Virgin Mega Stores and look at all the CDs and listen and read the magazines and go to the various sections. I was on an escalator and I remember saying ‘breathe in this moment. because this will be the last moment that I can walk around in public because I had written the line ‘She got a light-skinned friend look like Michael Jackson/Got a dark-skinned friend look like Michael Jackson’ and I knew after that I wouldn’t be able to walk the streets for the rest of my life.”
The lyric Kanye quoted is from the song “Slow Jamz” featuring Twista and Jamie Foxx, from Kanye West’s debut album ‘Kon the Louis Vuitton Don’ from year 2004.
Kanye West shared his personal thoughts on being married to Kim Kardashian-West to be “magnificent” and he wishes to have seven kids with her.
“Kanye West works for God,” screams Kanye in confidence. He shares that in 2018 he earned $115 million and still ended up $35 million in debt. This year, through his awakening, Kanye has managed to turn it all around. Kanye reveals that ‘YEEZY’ brand is worth $3 billion and one of the top searched brands on Google. He just received a $65 million tax return. Kanye West believes that his faith in God is paying off and God is showing off through him!
