“Running Over” is the eighth track on Justin Bieber’s 2020 album ‘Changes.’ Unlike any other song on this album, this track speaks about a falling out in a relationship. The comedic rapper Lil Dicky features on the vocal track of this song.
‘Changes‘ is Justin Bieber’s fifth studio album released on February 14, 2020. This album is full of love as is a reflection of his married life to model Hailey Baldwin. The album had three singles, “Yummy” released in December 2019, “Get Me” released in January 2020, and “Intentions” released in February 2020. In the trailer for the upcoming documentary about his life, Justin Bieber spoke about the upcoming album; “I feel like this album is different from the previous ones just because of where I am at in my life.”
Lil Dicky spoke about the opportunity to work with Justin Bieber on his Instagram post; “I rarely take a step back to reflect, but when the great Justin Bieber asked me to be on his album, it made me be like wow. So I went crazy on track number 8, which is my lucky number, and went crazy in the video. #changes out Valentine’s Day. I’m still single :/”

JB speaks of a relationship that was destined for doom from the start. Why? Both were emotionally unavailable, which lead to second-guessing each other, which lead to all sorts of jeopardy in their relationship. He had more questions than answers to his doubts.
They kept on running over each other with what seemed like ‘love’ before the inevitable happened. “Consumption” does not give out a positive vibe about the relationship. To consume is to end something to one’s gain. Bieber feels like all she did was use him up, drain him and then leave him a tasteless pulp.
In the second verse of “Running Over,” Justin Bieber narrates how they met. It was like a “divine sequence” and everything was in perfect order. He even had to get lessons in human anatomy to keep up with her sexual needs. But that is all good until it was not anymore.
As usual, Lil Dicky does not disappoint with his creatively funny lyrics. He talks about meeting this beautiful girl and he told all about her to his homies. He scrolled down her Instagram feed, enjoying the beautiful pictures until he got to 2015 and the pictures started looking too young for his lustful eyes. So he stops like a good boy!
Not sure what “post intercourse” means, but we can imagine that it involves only Lil Dicky himself. Because he says this happens when she walks by. He appreciates her curves and compares her ‘buns’ to the bakery products available in the popular retail chain Shop Rite.
Lil Dicky keeps on imagining his future with her–their kids and what is her daily beauty care routine is going to be like!
Lil Dicky also shouts out to NBA basketball player Pat Beverly who is known for his defensive skills. ‘Lock down’ is a term used for defense in basketball slang.
Lil Dicky even wants to make a secret language with her. Luckily his verse stops there being just about to cross to his weird lyrical genius.
