The Weeknd – Escape From LA | Lyrics Meaning & Song Review

“Escape From LA” is the sixth track on The Weeknd’s 2020 album ‘After Hours.’ This track seems to be an address to Abel’s significant other and his insecurities about their life in LA.

After Hours‘ is The Weeknd’s fourth studio album released on March 20, 2020. The album produced singles such as “Blinding Lights,” “Heartless,” title track “After Hours” and “Scare To Live” all throughout 2020. Abel himself called this album his ‘PSYCHOTIC CHAPTER’ at the reveal of the album.

In the lyrics of the song, Abel spill some secrets of his relationship with this girl. He worries about all the men who try to get in between them. Although The Weeknd assures that all the women in LA try to bed him, he would not budge.

The central theme of the song winds around the fact that the city of Los Angeles is no place to grow a relationship for them. There are too many distractions. And Abel is not the strongest man against these distractions.

The Weeknd could be talking about his relationship with model Bella Hadid or singer Selena Gomez. Both relationships have slight affiliations with the city of LA.
