“IN A DREAM” Lyrics Meaning & Song Review
In the first verse of the song, Troy Sivan confesses that he is still haunted by the memories of his ex-boyfriend. He wants to not think about him, but that thought itself is thinking about him. Troye Sivan tried many things to get over his ex, but so far there has been little success. Even putting a hammer on his phone made no difference!
In the pre-chorus, we see Troye attempting to become strong–he says that he wants to shut down that entire chapter of his life, and keep no doors open for a sneak love attack from his ex again. But if you are writing a song about him, I guess he is not really over his ex yet.
It just makes it even harder since the ex-boyfriend keeps visiting him in his dreams.
In the second verse of the song, we hear Troye Sivan momentarily relapse again. His mind asks for his ex for a split second, and immediately he tries to shut off that thought.
This looks like a lost cause for Troye Sivan. ‘Time’ might help him, and nothing else.
