Nicki Minaj – We Go Up Ft. Fivio Foreign | Lyrics Meaning Revealed

A brand new Barbie season might be upon us as Nicki Minaj keeps on dropping new music; the latest being “We Go Up,” a drill track in collaboration with one of the most famous names in drill music, Fivio Foreign.

“We Go Up” is the latest single from Nicki Minaj’s long-awaited fifth studio album, expected in 2022. She has already released two singles “Do We Have a Problem” and “Bussin.” On Instagram, Nicki Minaj revealed that this song was almost scrapped from the album; “I told @bigfenditv this song is scrapped from the album & we just had a hour long argument 🤔.”

The braggadocious song is about flexing Nicki Minaj’s status in the hip-hop game and throwing some serious shade at the female competition in the industry. There are no obvious names dropped in the song, and any connections made by fans to other artists have been denied by Nicki.

Nicki Minaj “We Go Up” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

Ayo, this week, ‘Rari (‘Rari), next week, Lambo (Lambo)

Nicki Minaj has been an OG in the female hip-hop scene and certainly has the wealth and influence to show for it. This week she might be riding a Ferrari and the next week she might consider riding her Lamborghini. Expensive choices, but she has earned them.

Next, she goes into a rant about other female rappers in the game, calling them ‘salty,’ ‘testy,’ ‘messy,’ and ‘nasty.’

After all of that surgery, you are still ugly

Ouch! This line could be directed at anybody and everybody. It seems as if there is none who has not had some part of their body modified for the ‘better’ in the entertainment industry. Nicki says not a hundred plastic surgeries could fix their looks.

Some of the best shooters out of New York, they don’t play with the Knicks

Nicki’s competition has something to worry about. She calls her Southside Jamaican clan fierce and armed to the teeth. They will shoot up on their opponents just like how the New York Knicks basketball team shoots hoops.

Fivio Foreign matches Nicki’s energy on the third verse of the song.

Ain’t no blicky with me, I got Nicki with me (Nah)

A ‘blick’ is a reference to a handgun. Both Nicki and Fivio have been talking about taking care of their opponents with violence. But in this line, Fivio says that he does not need actual weapons when he has Nicki by his side, because she is fierce.

“We Go Up” flows in great chemistry between the two artists on their first-ever collaboration. Let us hear what you think about this song in the comments below. Check out the complete lyrics on Genius.
