paramore this is why album review lyrics

Paramore – This Is Why | Lyrics Meaning Revealed

It has been a while since we’ve heard anything from the American pop-rock band Paramore, but this is about to change. With “This Is Why,” Paramore ushers in a brand new era for the band as well as the fans. This is a song about airing out some frustrations!

Paramore’s last studio album was ‘After Laughter’ from 2017. The band went into a hiatus since and is back with a brand new album. Also titled ‘This Is Why,’ this is Paramore’s sixth studio album, expected to release in February 2023.

In an interview with NME magazine, Hayley Williams, lead singer and frontman of Paramore, talked about the inspiration behind the song; “It summarizes the plethora of ridiculous emotions, the roller-coaster of being alive in 2022, having survived even just the last three or four years. You’d think after a global pandemic of f*cking biblical proportions and the impending doom of a dying planet, that humans would have found it deep within themselves to be kinder or more empathetic or something.”

Paramore “This Is Why” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

The band wastes no time getting to the point.

If you have an opinion, especially one that does more harm than good, you might be better off shoving it down the holes of your body. Being a celebrity, for almost two decades, Hayley Williams would have had her fair share of online criticism and blatant invasion of her privacy. At this point in her career, Hayley would have learned the bitter truth that you cannot please everyone. There’s bound to be someone who is displeased and has an opinion about it.

So, what does Hayley Williams choose to do?

Lock herself inside the safe spaces of her home. She opts not to go outside beyond necessities. However, these precautions don’t necessarily stop all evil from sneaking through.

Hayley Williams has been quite vocal about her mental health issues. All the faceless voices screaming at her are bound to break her at some point. “This Is Why” is a song about standing up to these voices. Enough is enough.

Both a remarkably good and a remarkably bad trait of the Internet and social media is that the voice of a single individual can be amplified all across the globe. When this voice is used for good, it brings about good paradigm changes. When this voice is used for bad, people suffer.

For Hayley Williams, a single step out of her home feels like walking into a gladiator fight. Who and what will she be facing and battling today? The only solid ground she walks on feels like the floor of her home. Every step outside of these walls feels like a free fall. This does not sound fun!

This is why she doesn’t go out! And probably a lot of other people, too!

Keep your negativity to yourself!
