Tate McRae is back with a brand new song titled “greedy,” and the song has sass written all over it. The song talks about how confident the singer is in her relationships and how it would not be easy for someone to swoon her.
Canadian pop star Tate McRae is teasing us with new music from her upcoming second album. Her previous project ‘I Used to Think I Could Fly’ was released in 2022 and reached #13 in the US Billboard 200 Chart and #3 in Canadian Albums Chart.
Speaking about the inspiration for “greedy” with People Magazine, Tate McRae revealed the real-life inspiration behind the song;
A guy had come up to me at a bar and he was like, ‘Oh, you’re so mysterious and I feel like I know nothing about you. You keep your cards so close to your chest.’ Then I was thinking, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, it takes a lot for me to really open up and get to know someone.’ You have to really get close to me.
It’s a tongue-in-cheek kind of vibe. I feel like it’s my most playful song I’ve written so far being like, ‘Yeah, I would want myself too and don’t expect it to come that quick.’

Tate McRae “greedy” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review
Throughout the song, Tate McRae sings about different situations in her relationship. In each of them, she finds her partner quite confused about the status of their relationship. These are not typical one-night stands as the guys keep coming back for more.
Can’t you tell that I want you?” I say, yeah
Tate McRae can very well tell that they want her. If she was someone else, she would want her as well. Why? Because she is the complete package–the looks, the talent, and the personality.
Tate McRae also tells us that she is rather mysterious like the guy in the bar said. It will take quite a bit of effort and time to get to know her beyond her name and she only opens up for people whom she is sure about. Getting greedy for more–of her love, of her attention, of her everything–would not go well for her partner. Anything more than the basics would require some effort and most people would fail at the first hurdle.
Good things need time and effort.
