The Winds of Winter Release Date Predictions

HBO’s The Game of Thrones is pacing up and outpacing A Song of Ice and Fire series. A Song of Ice and Fire is the book series written by G. R. R. Martin and The Game of Thrones is the TV adaptation of the book series. Both are equally brilliant (being a book lover I would have to give a little edge to the books) and both are expected to release new stuff in the coming year.

The Winds of Winter (TWOW) is the sixth installment of the book series and still very few details have been revealed about the book. The fans are dying to get hands on the book but George R. R. Martin is taking his own sweet time finishing up the book. We do know that he has entered the last phase of finishing the book, which is quite good news.

I can safely bet that The Winds of Winter won’t be released this year. Should it arrive in 2014, there will be a lot of buzz among the online book sellers preparing with pre-orders and what not.

So 2015 will be a safe bet to imagine the book being released. Hallels.com mentions that George R. R. Martin is obligated to finish the book by June 2015. We don’t know how true this information is, but April-June seems like a very likely period for TWOW to hit the shelves. The new Game of Thrones season will be premiering in April 2015 and Game of Thrones fever will be sky high. What better time than that to release the latest book?

It is believed that TWOW will be another large book. The manuscript pages are said to go up to 1,500 pages, so we can roughly expect a 800-1,000 page finished book. As of October 2012 he said that he had written about 400 pages. So he should be finishing the book by now. But then Martin goes on to say this;  “I have days where I make lots of progress, I have days where I make next to no progress, I have days where I think I’m going backwards because I don’t like what I wrote yesterday.”

So that’s a big brick wall in the path of our predictions. Anyway if he is obligated to finish the book by June 2015, he will finish the book somewhere around that time slot.

The Game of Thrones season 5 is scheduled to premier on April 08, 2015 and the fifth season is based A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons. So the TV series producers will have to start working on the next season right away after premiering the fifth season. And the sixth season is based on The Winds of Winter. So G. R. R. Martin has to finish the book by the time of the season premier or at most at the end of the fifth season. So there you go. That’s the deadline.

That all being said, I would wait for a year more and have a masterpiece of a book than rush him up and get an average book. So take your time Mr. Martin. Blow our minds away!!!
