“Just Random Things” Lists Top 20 Songs of 2014 (Best Music from The Best Artists)

Alright, let’s do the impossible. One reason I have pushed writing this article so far down is my own indecisiveness as to where to begin this post and where to end it. There is no possible way that I could rate top 20 songs from 2014 when nearly thousands of new songs have been released this year and many of them have been massive hits.

Several artists managed to dominate the calender year. There were numerous singles released, countless new tracks and several new albums in 2014. Some artists ruled the year and some artists were silent contributors.

Let’s Try to List Down the Most Influential/Popular Album of 2014

Within Temptation released “Hydra” breaking their silence. Schoolboy Q released their very succeful “Oxymoron” album, while Lea Michelle released “Louder”. Pharrell Williams released his second studio album “GIRL”. The Pretty Reckless made a huge impact with “Going To Hell” album. Jason Derulo came out with the awesome “Talk Dirty” album, and Iggy Azalea announced the industry of her presence with “The New Classics” rap album. Coldplay shook the charts and sales record with “Ghost Stories”. 50 Cent showed that he still is the badass of rapping with “Animal Ambition”. Jack White’s “Lazaretto” proved to be an award magnet. Lana Del Rey continued strong in Alt Rock with her thirs studio album “Ultraviolence”. Deadmau5 returned strong for their seventh studio album with “while(1<2) album. Ed Sheeran released his second studio album “X” which is still chart topping all over the world. 5 Seconds of Summer released their first self titled studio album and they have been unstoppable since. Sia released “1000 Forms of Fear” which include massive hits such as “Chandelier” and “Eye of The Needle”. Wiz Khalifa released “Blacc Hollywood”. Ariana Grande released her second studio album “My Everything”, while Maroon 5 released “V”. Chris Browns’ “X” was a major hit too. The Script released “No Sounds Without Silence”. Hozier, the chart topping artist was introduced to the world with his debut self titled album in October. T.I. returned with “Paperwork”. Taylor Swift, of course with “1989”. One Direction released their fourth studio album “Four” which has so many great tracks. Shady Records released their 15th anniversary two-disc album “Shady XV”. J Cole shocked us with his “2014 Forest Hills Drive” album in the latter part of 2014. And last but not least, Nicki Minaj came out with her latest, shocking album “The Pinkprint”. These are not all the albums released in 2014. There are more album omitted than the number of albums mentioned here. Please excuse me for that, because it is pretty impossible to track them all. If you do want a full list, this Wiki page will be helpful.

So among all these albums are numerous great songs, and it is quite impossible to pick top 20 songs out of them. But we are going to try.

To be fair to all artists, I’m gonna try to limit one song per artist the best I can.

This top 20 songs of 2014 list is completely based on my choice/taste (which is quite broad as you can see), but could be very biased. I do apologize for that. It is so difficult to make a top 20 songs list when you have a handful of favorite artists who did extremely well during the year.

Leave a comment if you don’t agree with the list, positioning of songs, if any songs do not deserve to be on the list or if any songs should be included in the list. We will make amendments as necessary. Or you can create a top 20 songs list of your own. Just comment the top 20 songs which you think are the best of the best in the year. Also if you agree with our top 20 songs list, do leave a comment saying as such and why.

Happy holidays!!!
