Carrie Underwoord Premiers “Dirty Laundry” Music Video

“Dirty Laundry” track appears in Carrie Underwood’s 2015 album ‘Storyteller.’ We don’t know why it took so long for this video to get released but better late then never, right? Carrie Underwood equals his cheating boyfriend to dirty laundry and the metaphor works just fine.

“Dirty Laundry” was written by Zach Crowell, Ashley Gorley, and Hillary Lindsey and we are unsure who directed the music video, but whoever it is, has done an amazing job in all the Black and White glory.

Lyrics of the song are pretty amazing, it’s worth taking a look at them. First verse goes something like this.

That lipstick on your collar, well, it ain’t my shade of pink
And I can tell by the smell of that perfume, it’s like forty dollars too cheap
And there’s a little wine stain on the pocket of your white cotton thread
Well, you drink beer and whiskey, boy, and you know I don’t drink red

This cheating boyfriend has no clue how to cheat. “Dirty Laundry” gives you 101 on how not to cheat. Let’s take a look.

The boy has lipstick on his collar and could it be the singers? No, it’s not a colour she would wear. Then the singer takes a huge blow at the girl who he is cheating with. She calls her cheap wearing cheap perfumes that the singer would never wear. And worst of all, the singer has spotted a wine stain on his shirt and she knows that he doesn’t drink wine. He is more of a beer and whiskey guy-which probably lead to the cheating. And she doesn’t drink the red wine either. So busted!

The chorus of “Dirty Laundry” spells out his punishment;

Now I’ma have to hang you out to dry, dry, dry
Clothespin all your secrets to the line, line, line
Leave ’em blowing in the wind, just say goodbye to you
All those midnights sneaking in
“I’m late again, oh, I’m so sorry”
All the Ajax in the world ain’t gonna clean your dirty laundry

Carrie Underwood has got the lyrics written in a double entendre. On one had, she just described how his boyfriends’ clothes has gotten all dirty from all the lipstick, the cheap perfume smell and wine stains. So there’s one dirty laundry. The other meaning lies where the singer calls the cheating boyfriend dirty laundry that needs to be thrown away.

She says that you can’t even wash him and re-use him, he is that dirty and not all the Ajax-the super dirty remover-can clean the dirtbag he is.

So, a funny and witty song gets a music video and Carrie Underwood brings up memories from 2015. This is a song a lot of women can relate to.

So why not comment about that pile of dirty laundry you got out of your life for good.
