Macklemore and Lil Yachty Born to be Rich in “Marmalade” Music Video

It’s all about the rich life in the new song “Marmalade” by Macklemore featuring Lil Yachty and the music video is exactly that. But instead of making it very NSFW (which it could have easily become), Macklemore tuned all the cast to under 16. Yes, it’s all kids in the video and it has a certain ring to it. However, I don’t know if you should be showing this to your kids, because that is some of the highest standards of living shown in “Marmalade” video.

Riding Maybachs, Nike shoes, pro-athletes, pool parties, gold and diamond studded jewelry are the contents of this video. The video was directed by Jason Koenig & Ben Haggerty, so it was in good hands. The video features some high profile characters like Matteo “Teo” Angeles and KraShane “Spinz” Sims. Macklemore’s child version is played by Mitchell Savitsky and Lil Yachty’s by Dre’moni Watts.

Be riding through the town
My music loud
Windows down yeah you can hear me now
I turn it up, I need that bass
And my chain so bright can’t see my face

Even the pool party is very SFW, where the girls are dressed in swimwear and dance freely. And no booze is involved anywhere.

Whatever said and done, these kids behave very responsibly than their adult counterparts. The kid that looks like Macklemore brings the Maybach safely back to the garage. At the end of the video, Macklemore wakes up from his day dream. I think he was dreaming about a version of himself that could have been if he had the luxuries he has now back when he was a kid.

I believe this is a good music video that goes against the current trend of lose inhibitions. Kudos to Macklemore for braving up for a SWF music video for “Marmalade” without opting for the viral solution.
