“Hit Me Baby One More Time” is one of those songs that propelled Britney Spears to the star that she is. Released in 1998 the song came through Britney’s 1999 album ‘…Baby One More Time’ and caught the mass by storm. The song defined a genre of ‘Teen Pop’ and won MTV Europe Music Award for Best Song and is considered as one of the best works by Britney Spears.
Many covers of “Hit Me Baby One More Time” have been released over the decades but an acoustic cover of the song with just the acoustic guitar for music is a rarity. And this cover is done by the maestro of acoustic covers himself-Ed Sheeran.
Visiting 107.5 The River radio network, Ed Sheeran performed the song live in a backroom and it was released to the world by the network. It is unclear of the exact date this cover was done, but it predates 2013. So the cover itself is quite old and it deserves to be resurfaced. As usual, Ed Sheeran does a pitch perfect job on covering Britney Spears, which is not easy.
