Camila Cabello just released the final single off of her debut self-titled album and it is gorgeous. The new song is a strip down of “Consequences” original track to an orchestral version, which is befitting a Disney princess movie.
The “Havanna” singer gets rather emotional and confessional in the new single where she explains that loving this guy had consequences. This ballad tends to differ vastly from the music Camila has produced so far. She took to Instagram to announce the release of the new single, where she wrote; “It would be playing it safe for me to make a song that sounds like Havana or another uptempo song.” However, she says that she wanted to end the first phase of her solo career on a more thoughtful note; “I wanted to close this era finishing on a song that makes you feel, that makes you think about someone you loved and lost, that makes you think about what it’s like to love someone so deeply.”
Camila Cabello also announced that she will be performing the orchestral version of “Consequences” at American Music Awards (AMA) on October 10.

On a later Instagram post, Camila Cabello announced that there is a music video for “Consequences” releasing soon. “Let the magic begin…… consequences (orchestra) is out tonight at midnight ET and the video with my friend @dylansprouse comes out on Wednesday 🌙.”

Lyrics Review of “Consequences”
Verse 1
Right off the start of the ballad, Camila Cabello speaks of the reasons for the relationship falling apart.
Secretive messages, dirty tissues, booze and sneaking around led to trust issues and the relationship is crumbling down. In these lines, Camila is speaking about how she got cheated by her boyfriend. There was little to no communications between them. She felt as if though he is keeping secrets with her. In her own bed, she was a stranger. A lonely pillow is all that was there to keep her company at night. He was not around and these sparked up the little voices inside her head, telling her the worst stories possible.
She lost her appetite for food and lost weight as well. She was overthinking. She was mentally tormenting herself and she was slowly killing herself inside.
Chorus 1
The chorus of “Consequences” explains why she fell in love with him. Their love was young and wild and free. Their love was cool, hot and sweet and bright and safe and sound. He was everything she was looking for. But he was also whom many other women were looking for. And she was foolish to think that she could make him hers. Her naive beliefs had consequences.

Verse 2
Now strikes disaster. Those little voices inside her head start speaking out. Awkward conversations of her trying to find a reason to leave him and him trying to maintain his web of lies. She is losing hopes on this relationship, but she is optimistically holding on in hopes of a miracle. But every tell-tale sign that she chose to ignore, now she is paying off.
Chorus 2
The second chorus of “Consequences” wrap up her feelings about this relationship in hindsight. Camila now calls this relationship ‘dumb, dark and cheap.’ When she comes to this realization, it is too late for her. The scars are already imprinted on her.
“Consequences” speak of an age-old love story of falling for the wrong Mr. Perfect. It is a tale as old as time.
