Miley Cyrus Performs “Slide Away” Live on VMA 2019
It was not all happy and uplifting songs performed live at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards held a couple of days ago. Miley Cyrus graced the award ceremony to perform her brand new single “Slide Away.”
This heartbreak song was released significantly close to the announcement of Miley’s split with husband and actor Liam Hemsworth. So the song was naturally associated with the couple breaking up and there are tell-tale signs that the song is actually about the two of them.
The entire VMA stage was dimmed to a black-and-white theme to match with the outfit of Miley Cyrus and of course the mood of the song. It was not surprising to see that Miley poured her heart out in this live performance. Miley donned herself in a short black skirt and an excessive amount of bling, while a row of string instruments performed in the dimmed backdrop.
“Slide Away” single is a part of Miley’s upcoming second EP ‘She Is Here’ from the trilogy of EP’s leading up to her next studio album ‘She Is Miley Cyrus.’

The news on the grapevine is that there is no coming back for Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth as they prepare to file for divorce. The two met at a movie production set when Miley Cyrus was 17-years-old, which is also referenced in the lyrics of the song.
