“Cherry” is the fifth track and the alleged counterpart to “Watermelon Sugar” song from Harry Style’s new album ‘Fine Line.’
Fans speculated a song titled ‘cherry’ long before the tracklist was announced. ‘Fine Line’ tour general admission pits were named after two fruits ‘watermelon’ and ‘cherry.’ After “Watermelon Sugar” single was released, fans speculated there will be a song titled after the other fruit as well.
“Cherry” track seems to talk about Harry Style’s ex-girlfriend Camille Rowe. A voice clip of her marks the outro of the song further adding to the buzz.
Harry Styles talked about how he came up with the song in an interview with Zane Lowe; “The night that I wrote it, everyone had left the studio, it was me, Tyler and Sammy, who is our engineer… You know, I have all these ideas about records that I want to make, and ‘I wanna make this record in 5 years, and I wanna make this record in 10 years’… and Tyler just said to me, ‘You just have to make the record that you wanna make right now, that’s it.’ So then we stayed up and wrote “Cherry” that night.”

Lyrics Review and Song Meaning of “Cherry”
The song spins out of a place of Harry Styles missing his ex-girlfriend Camille Rowe, and a bit of jealousy. In the chorus of the song, Harry asks his ex not to call her current boyfriend ‘baby’ or the other sweet pronouns that she used to call him.
In the first verse, Harry Styles boldly states that she is the best he has ever met and her influence is still with him. He hates himself for the fact that he let her go and now regrets it.
In the second verse, Harry admits that he misses the way she talks and her accent. We can imagine why listening to the outro of this song. Harry also says that he still talks to her friend, although the door between them is completely shut now. Or is it?
The bridge of the song is a very clear sign that the song is indeed about Camille Rowe. After their breakup in July 2018, Camille Rowe started dating a gallerist Theodorakis “Theo” Niarchos, who opened an art gallery with paintings passed on to him from his father. While Harry Styles mentions him and his enterprise, there is a slight undertone of mockery with the idea that Theo’s billion-dollar wealth is not earned.
