“What’s Next” is the first track on Drake’s 2021 EP ‘Scary Hours 2.’ In the song, Drake sings about all the successes he has achieved throughout the years, even outside of the music career.
‘Scary Hours 2’ is a three-track EP released on March 5, 2021. It follows Drake’s 2018 EP ‘Scary Hours’ which contained two tracks. The other two tracks on the follow-up EP, “Wants and Needs,” and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” features vocals by Lil Baby and Rick Ross respectively.
“What’s Next” is a question that Drake might be contemplating in life right now. He has achieved so much success as a musician and a businessman, he might not be seeing many more mountains to conquer.
In the chorus of the song, he explains how he spent the last few months leading up to the release of the song; “Summer, all I did was rest,” “And New Year’s, all I did was stretch,” and “And Valentine’s Day, I had sex.” Notice how there is no mention of ‘work.’ This statement comes at a time when Drake’s highly anticipated sixth studio album ‘Certified Lover Boy’ is delayed. Drake is in no rush!

I sit in a box where the owners do
A boss is a role that I’ve grown into
Straight-up boss-level lyrics. Drake hints that he is at the top of the food chain wherever he takes his business to. ‘A box’ is a reference to the room in many sports stadiums reserved for the VIP. Drake infers that he could be the owner of the sports team playing.
One of the biggest flexes on the song is when Drake shares about the very expensive and limited edition Patek Philippe wristwatches he and Virgil Abloh own.
In the second verse, Drake also mentions some of his high-end partnerships with the luxurious ‘Wynn‘ hotel chain He also nods to Lil Wayne AKA Weezy for signing him up in Wayne’s record label ‘Young Money Records’ back in 2009.
So, what is next for Drake? Only Drake knows.
