Billie Eilish – bad guy (Lyrics Review and Song Meaning)
“bad guy” is the 2nd track on the brand new debut album ‘WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?’ by Billie Eilish released on March 29, 2019.
In this song, Billie Eilish assumes the aura of a ‘bad guy’ in the relationship. And she also makes a bit of sarcastic jokes on her boyfriend who is not a bad guy at all.
In the chorus of the song, Billie Eilish draws a comparison of a ‘typical’ bad guy to herself. “Rough,” “tough,” high sexual appetitie, and buffe up, is the male version of ‘bad.’ On the other spectrum, Billie Eilish elaborates how a girl can be bad–make your mother sad, makes your girlfriend mad (which indirectly means he is cheating on his girlfriend as well), and the type to seduce your dad as well. Yes, she says that!
“bad guy” poses a very vibrant sexual undertone throughout the song. From stealing others men to seducing boyfriends’ dads, Billie Eilish speaks of the unspeakable in these lyrics. In the first verse of the song, she speaks of having her both knees bruised for him. This is a classic posture of giving oral pleasure while kneeling. In the second verse, Billie says that she is willing to be his ‘animal’ and fulfill her desires of sadistic or controlling nature.
Billie’s mother cannot obviously sing this song along with her and if she sees these lyrics, she would be scared for the men her daughter is dating.
The bass-heavy track has an amazing music video as well. Billie Eilish relieves herself from the usual creepy persona and assumes a completely bizarre character for this song and video.
“bad guy” is a continuation of the first track “!!!!!!” of the album. In the first track, Billie has a conversation with her brother FINNEAS about her removing her Invisalign for the album and the “bad guy” music video starts off with Billie removing her Invisalign and handing it over to a guy.

In the reprise of the song, Billie Eilish makes a conversation with a guy who is cheating on his girlfriend with Billie. The singer casually questions why her girlfriend is scared of her? She might have the answer. Because she is wearing his colonge and she is around him and his girlfriend quite a bit for her to recognize the same scent.
So there you go. What a female version of a bad guy looks like!
