Calvin Harris Releases “Giant” Collab with Rag’n’Bone Man (Lyrics Review and Song Meaning)

Some collaborations we wait eagerly and some other collaborations hit us in the face accidentally and we fall in love. This new single “Giant” by Calvin Harris with Rag’n’Bone Man is somewhat of a surprise collaboration and an awesome one at that.

For 2019, Calvin Harris debuted this new collab “Giant” talking about self-empowerment. The English singer and songwriter Rory Graham, better known by his stage name Rag’n’Bone Man, performs a soulful vocal track on this song. This is his first song as a lead artist since his 2017 EP ‘As You Are.’ Calvin Harris, on the other hand, returns from a very successful 2018 collaborating with Dua Lipa for “One Kiss” which became a global sensation, and “Promises” collab with Sam Smith.

A lyric video was released for “Giant” along with the single and shows a stream of very flexible dances by a few people set to the background of a plateau of endless boulders and trees.

The song seems to be addressed to a parent: “Now I’m strong enough for both of us.” The song sounds like an invitation for someone to lean on him now that he is stronger than ever. He leaned on this other person when he was young and weak.

In the first verse of “Giant,” Rag’n’Bone man sings of seeing a person resorting to pills to kill their loneliness. He could be talking about his childhood growing up.
